How We List Lawyers

Our listing standards explain who can appear in the China Law List directory, how profiles are verified, and what we will never do — paid rankings disguised as editorial picks.

  • Verified credentials
  • No paid ranking
  • Direct client contact
  • Report issues welcome

Who is eligible to be listed

Lawyers and firms serving cross-border or China-related matters

China Law List accepts applications from:

  • Licensed Chinese lawyers in good standing with a valid practice license, typically serving (or able to serve) international or bilingual clients
  • International lawyers licensed in their jurisdiction(s) who advise Chinese clients or China-related cross-border matters
  • Law firms that meet the same professional licensing standards for the jurisdictions they claim

We are not a law firm and not a bar association. Listing does not constitute endorsement of a particular outcome, fee, or strategy. Clients should independently confirm credentials for their matter.

How verification works

What we check before a profile goes live

  1. 01

    Application

Submit name, firm, practice areas, languages, license identifiers, and contact path for clients.

  2. 02

    Credential review

We review licensing information and professional standing indicators available for the claimed jurisdiction.

  3. 03

    Profile quality

We expect clear practice focus, accurate location, and honest language claims — not vague marketing copy alone.

  4. 04

    Go live & maintain

Approved profiles become searchable. Material changes (license, firm, status) should be updated; we may re-check or delist.

Documents

What we may request

License number, bar association confirmation, firm affiliation, and sample of public professional presence.

Ongoing

After listing

Profiles may be reviewed after client reports, public disciplinary news, or periodic quality checks.

Removal

When we delist

Invalid licensing, misleading claims, abusive conduct, or failure to respond to verification requests.

How listing order works

Directory results may be ordered by relevance to filters (practice, city, language), recency, completeness of profile data, and similar non-payment factors. We do not sell higher ranking as “featured editorial” placement.

Where a listing is labeled promotional or featured for product reasons, it will be disclosed as such. Default search presentation is not an award ranking and should not be read as “best lawyer” certification.

What we do not do

No

Paid “best of” rankings

Money does not buy a fake editorial #1 position in organic directory results.

No

Referral markups

We are a directory. Clients contact lawyers directly; we do not insert a mandatory referral fee layer.

No

Legal advice

Site content and listings are information. Use does not create an attorney–client relationship with China Law List.

No

Guaranteed outcomes

We do not guarantee case results, response times from counsel, or fee levels set by third-party lawyers.

Report a listing

If you believe a profile is inaccurate, impersonating someone, or no longer licensed, contact us with:

  • The profile URL or lawyer name
  • What is wrong (and any public source we can check)
  • Your relationship to the matter (client, counsel, firm, public interest)
