Beijing's legal market is the most policy-intensive in China, driven by its role as the national capital and headquarters of all major regulatory agencies including MOFCOM, SAMR, CSRC, and the People's Bank of China. Foreign businesses require counsel who understand both the regulatory environment and the local court system.

Court System

Beijing hosts the Supreme People's Court, the Beijing Higher People's Court, three Intermediate People's Courts, and district-level Basic People's Courts. Specialized IP courts (Beijing IP Court) handle patent and technology disputes. The city also has a dedicated Financial Court and the Beijing Internet Court for online disputes.

Key Practice Areas

Corporate and M&A, regulatory compliance, intellectual property (especially patent litigation), antitrust and competition, foreign investment, cross-border disputes, real estate development, employment and labor, and criminal defense. Beijing firms dominate China's antitrust and securities law practices due to proximity to regulators.
