China Work Visa (Z Visa) — Requirements & Application Process

The Z visa is required for foreign nationals who intend to work in China. The application involves three stages: work permit, Z visa, and residence permit.

Three-Stage Process

  1. Work Permit (???????) � Employer applies with the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs. Category A (talent): expedited, 1�5 years. Category B (professional): standard, 1�2 years. Category C (unskilled): limited, restricted.
  2. Z Visa � Apply at Chinese embassy/consulate abroad with work permit notification letter. Single entry, 90-day validity.
  3. Residence Permit (???????) � Within 30 days of entry, apply at local PSB Exit-Entry Administration Bureau. Valid 1�5 years, multiple-entry.

Category Requirements

Category A: Monthly salary ? RMB 60,000 or 60x national average. Category B: Bachelor's degree + 2 years experience + job offer. Category C: Restricted to specific sectors and quotas.
